LLANO, TX — The Wall Lady Hawks Softball team traveled to Llano on Thursday night, April 25, to face off with Blanco in the Bi-District Round matchup in the 2024 Playoffs. The Lady Hawks proved explosive on offense throughout the contest, and the ladies’ bats pulled them through a rough pitching night to claim a Bi-District Championship, 12-9.
Lady Hawks Head Coach Allyson Seider talked about her team’s performance after the game. Watch that post-game interview below:
Wall jumped out to a fast start in the top of the 1st inning with back-to-back triples from Paige Dickson and Jordan Chitsey. Kenzie Little, not to be outdone, followed those at-bats up with an inside-the-park home run, and the Lady Hawks took a 3-0 lead.
Blanco answered with one run in the bottom of the 2nd before Wall would add another run in the top of the third inning. In the 4th inning, errors plagued the Lady Hawks and allowed Blanco to even the score at 4-4. Wall responded in the top of the 5th with a five-run barrage to take a 9-4 lead. Chitsey hit a two-RBI double to left-center before Little followed that with another double that advanced Chitsey to 3rd base. Emery Harper then hit a double to score Chitsey and Little. Wall added one more run from an error headed to the bottom of the 5th.
Blanco never entirely disappeared as they clawed back, even with two in the 4th and three in the 5th, thanks to some more errors and two timely hits. Wall took back the lead with three runs in the 6th inning and headed to the bottom of the 7th up 12-9.
With two outs and two on base, the Lady Hawks forced a deep pop-fly to center field. Freshman stand-out Shyanne Floyd sprinted under the ball to claim the final out and send the Lady Hawks to the Area Round 12-9.
San Angelo LIVE!’s Ryan Chadwick asked Shyanne about the final out in a post-game interview. Watch that interview below:
The Lady Hawks move on to the Area Round next week, where Wall will face Iowa Park. Iowa Park defeated Breckenridge 2-1 in extra innings on Thursday evening. Iowa Park sports a 19-13-1 overall record this season and finished 3rd overall in District 7-3A this year.
