KILLEEN, TX-- The Central Bobcats could not hold off the Killeen Kangaroo's furious seventh inning rally in a 6-5 loss on Friday.
The Bobcats held a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning. In that frame, the 'Roos halved the Bobcat lead.
Central and Killeen traded runs in the fifth inning to make it 3-2 'Cats. The Bobcats extended their lead to three in the top of the sixth with a RBI double from Nixon Brannan with two-outs. That sparked a rally of sorts with Oscar Nino plating Brannan two batters later on a single to right field to bring the score to 5-2.
A leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh followed by a two-run error and a wild pitch by pitcher Noah Perez would give Killeen the four runs they needed to win the game.
Brannan led the Bobcats by going 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored. Nino went 2-for-3 and led the team in RBIs with two.
Trey Neslage started on the bump for Central, going four-and-a-third innings allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts, but ultimately got no decision.
Mikey Cruz registered one-and-a-third inning of work where he was charged with three runs on three hits.
Noah Perez picked up the loss after throwing five pitches and allowing the winning run to score.
The Bobcats are now 6-14 overall and 1-1 in district play. Central will host Killeen Ellison on Tuesday, March 20 at 4:30 p.m.
