SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State catcher Blake Wilhoite was one of nine players in the nation honored Wednesday as a NCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove winner.
Wilhoite, a junior from Midlothian, threw out 14 of the 32 runners who attempted to steal on him. He committed only one error all season and was a wall behind the plate who allowed just two passed balls.
Wilhoite also hit .297 with 32 RBIs, and he was 10 of 12 stealing bases.
He helped the Rams spend much of the season as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation before they were upset in the Super Regional round by UT-Tyler.
