San Angelo UFO Sighting Coincides With Newly Released Pentagon Files

SAN ANGELO, TX — A local resident reported seeing two small, fast-moving white orbs in the sky over San Angelo last November — the latest in a string of unexplained aerial phenomena in West Texas now drawing fresh attention after the Pentagon’s recent release of historical UFO-related records.

According to a report filed with the National UFO Reporting Center, the sighting occurred on Nov. 16, 2025, at about 2:27 p.m. The witness, who was operating a drone and visually scanning the area, described observing two small white orb-shaped objects at high altitude.

“(They were) moving extremely fast, each in different direction and vanishing within about 2 seconds,” the report states. “I observed two small white orb-shaped objects in the sky while flying my drone and watching the area with my eyes. Both objects appeared at a high altitude and moved extremely fast. Each one was visible for only about two seconds. They were solid white, not bright or reflective, and did not match the appearance of aircraft, satellites, bugs, or birds.”

The objects headed in different directions — one south, the other east — left brief trails, produced no sound, and showed “no signs of conventional propulsion.” The witness estimated their size as possibly a few inches to a foot across and noted the extreme speed created a brief afterimage effect.

The timing of the San Angelo report is drawing extra local interest because it coincides with the public release of newly declassified U.S. government records on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs). Among those documents is a detailed 1948 Incident Summary Report (Incident No. 231) from nearby Abilene — just 90 miles northeast of San Angelo.

On Jan. 1, 1948, at 1:25 a.m. and again at 1:30 a.m., Abilene resident Mr. A. Schroeder, of 1109 Highland Ave., reported seeing a bright blue-green glowing object on the western horizon from Abilene.

The declassified form describes the object as “like a bell with a fan-shaped glow surrounding” it, visible for about two seconds before disappearing, then reappearing briefly about five minutes later. It was stationary, produced no sound, and showed no visible direction of movement. The witness initially wondered if it could be related to electrical disturbances or operations at the White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico, but follow-up inquiries confirmed that nighttime activities at the facility did not involve lighting devices or flares that could explain the sighting.
