Radar Outage at Mathis Field Could Impact Storm Monitoring

SAN ANGELO, TX — The National Weather Service in San Angelo has announced a temporary outage of its weather radar system.

It’s expected to be resolved by Thursday evening. However, the outage could affect local abilities to monitor potentially severe weather conditions forecasted for tonight's area in the western big country.

A necessary part required for the radar's repair is expected to arrive tomorrow, with the system anticipated to be fully operational by the evening.

This evening, there may be isolated, strong to severe storms in the western Big Country. Residents are advised to stay alert and use surrounding radars for updates. They are posted below.
