AUSTIN, TX - Texas boasts many waterfront attractions, but only two of its lakes made it to the top 30 most picturesque in North America.
Lake Travis in Austin ranked No. 12, while Lake Conroe secured the No. 27 spot, according to a recent ranking by vacation rental platform Lake.com.
The rankings were determined by the number of Instagram posts featuring specific hashtags.
Lake Tahoe, straddling the California-Nevada border, claimed the top position with over three million #LakeTahoe posts. Lake Michigan, spanning Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, followed in second place, and Lake Superior, located on the US-Canada border, came in third.
"The data reveal some fascinating insights into the continent's natural beauty," said Lake.com CEO David Ciccarelli. "It's remarkable to see how social media platforms like Instagram can showcase the captivating allure of these lakes, drawing attention from people far and wide."
In addition to Lake Travis and Lake Conroe, two other Texas spots, Lake Texoma and Lake Lewisville, were named among the top 50 most Instagrammable lakes. However, Lake Fork, located east of Dallas, was the lowest-ranking U.S. lake with only 105 Instagram hashtags.
“These findings underscore the profound impact of these scenic spots, not only on local communities but also on a global scale, as they inspire countless individuals to explore and appreciate the wonders of nature," Ciccarelli said.
