If this covid pandemic has proven anything, it's that the US needs universal healthcare (Medicare for all) more than ever. The US has the most deaths from covid of any other major country on the planet, all of which have some form of universal healthcare. The next highest deaths is India, which is nearly half of the US deaths despite having a BILLION more people.

Republicans will say it's "socialism" or some other tired trope, but what I am more tired of is American lives being lost unnecessarily to a virus that can both be prevented and treated.

I quite closely know someone who is not unintelligent.  This person's IQ is clearly above 100.  Having said that, over time I have noticed his lack of what I call in-depth thinking.  He seizes on a thought, seeks information to support that thought, and is unable to defend devil's advocate responses when they punch holes in his previous erroneous conclusions.  He bows up and gets all defensive without an adequate countering response.

He is much like current Trumpians.

This is the "research" they are always talking about. They don't actually "research" anything. They form a conclusion and only listen to or read the data that supports their erroneous view.

Yeah ask any veteran about the quality of the healthcare they receive from the federal government.

Also, if government healthcare is so great, why is a supplemental policy required in order to fill in the “gaps” in coverage?

What do you care about veterans? Republicans are openly wanting to murder military leaders and put it on TV.

Besides, if you are asking this question you obviously do not know how a medicare for all system would work. Why are you arguing against something you don't know anything about? Oh right, republican.

Typical demo lib…just because some nutjob somewhere makes some vague threat that means that’s how ALL republicans feel.

Just stop. Or continue to make an ass out of yourself makes no difference to me ;)

How is that different than someone burning someone in effigy…or for that matter those stupid fake gallows that BOTH SIDES bring out during a political demonstration?

You mean like when republicans brought gallows to the capitol, shouted "hang mike pence" and stormed the capitol to gain entrance to where mike pence and other law makers were? Or a KKIK rallies?

I have honestly not seen a gallows at a "demonstration" for Biden or other democrats, I just searched and can't find anything. Please show me.

"If this covid pandemic has proven anything, it's that the US needs universal healthcare (Medicare for all) more than ever."

Maybe you remember obummercare, you know insurance for everyone that put most insurance underwriters out of business.

"OH NO! Would you please think of the poor health insurance companies that inflate prices and are the main reason we have the highest healthcare costs in the world?"

"Republicans will say it's "socialism" or some other tired trope, but what I am more tired of is American lives being lost unnecessarily to a virus that can both be prevented and treated."

You're the only one calling universal healthcare socialism. It's even in your paragraph here

So you don't think that univeral healthcare is "socialism"? That's great! I have just heard it being called that before, maybe you guys are learning that expanding Medicare to every US citizen is better for the country as a whole and would save more money than the current system.

Look, if you don't want American citizens to have anything, just say it. But this would be better for the country as a whole, every other country that has implemented it proves this to be true.

Also, you are admitting that half of "wage earners" are being paid poverty wages, which is proof we need to raise minimum wage and increase worker protections. Good for you!

No. Me “admitting” the FACT that half of wage earners pay no federal income tax just proves you wrong when you said “everyone pays taxes”. Try to stay focused ok ;)

Alright, so I was wrong. People in poverty do not pay taxes. You win that one.

Still proves that we need to raise minimum wage and increase worker protections/rights.

https://pnhp.org/news/universal-health-care-might-cost-you-less-than-you-think/

It would cost less if you take into account the fact that the taxes you would pay would be less than your healthcare premiums.

Every other single major country on earth has managed to implement some kind of universal healthcare, the US hasn't because republicans won't allow people they do not like to have anything.
