SAN ANGELO, TX – Fire danger remains high across West Central Texas as dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty south winds contribute to an increased wildfire risk Thursday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, humidity values will drop to 20-30%, and wind gusts are expected to exceed 30 mph. With dormant grass and brush, any fires that ignite could spread rapidly. A Rangeland Fire Danger Statement is in effect.

Officials advise residents to take precautions, including ensuring vehicle chains are not dragging, avoiding driving on dry grass, refraining from outdoor burning, and properly disposing of cigarette butts.
Temperatures are forecast to rise Thursday and Friday, with highs reaching the low 80s in some areas. However, a cold front will move through late Friday night into early Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures for the weekend. Highs will drop into the 50s and low 60s, while overnight lows could fall into the 30s.
