SAN ANGELO, TX — One suspect involved in fleeing a traffic stop on Red Bluff Road has been identified and arrested.
Samuel Byre faces multiple charges including evading arrest and driving while intoxicated. He was released this afternoon on a $40,000 bond.
Byre was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on July 5, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., and released on July 6, 2024, at 2:28 p.m. His charges include:
- Evading Arrest Detention
- Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle
- Driving While Intoxicated
Byre is the only person in the last 24 hours booked with charges last night involving fleeing the law.
We reported last night that an incident began around 9:30 p.m. when two individuals fled a traffic stop on Red Bluff Road. The search for the second fugitive was ongoing last night, led by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). We do not know if the second subject has been caught.
Last night, about a dozen San Angelo police officers, Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies, and Texas DPS troopers, some in unmarked cars, were seen off Red Bluff Road near the slough.
Two fugitives abandoned their vehicle on a random residential driveway on Palms Court and fled on foot. San Angelo police deployed their K9 unit and drones.
Additionally, SAPD Lake Patrol was seen searching with the police boat up and down the canal behind the homes.
