SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man has been indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.
Daniel Diego Sanchez, 55, of San Angelo, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for Indecency with a Child and Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
According to court documents, on April 3, 2024, a San Angelo police officer responded to an address on 16th Street in San Angelo regarding lewd behavior with a child. The child victim had made an outcry of sexual abuse by Sanchez to a member of their church. The victim claimed that Sanchez had touched her private area.
On April 4, 2024, investigators spoke with a witness who said on March 26, 2024, she saw the child outside with Sanchez as they cleaned out a vehicle. The witness observed the child in the back seat of the vehicle and Sanchez in the middle seat. When the witness told the child to come inside, she noticed the child’s pants were disheveled.
That same day, the investigator conducted a forensic interview with the victim at the Hope House. The child victim said that when she and Sanchez were cleaning out the vehicle, Sanchez pulled down the child’s pants and touched her private area.
A non-custodial interview was conducted on April 9, 2024, with Sanchez. He allegedly admitted to pulling down the child’s pants and underwear and touching the child’s privates for sexual gratification.
Sanchez was arrested on April 18, 2024, and is currently an inmate in the Tom Green County Jail being held on a $500,000 bond.
