FREDERICKSBURG, TX – Fredericksburg Police Department has made an arrest in the homicide and robbery case at Kwikcheck convenience store on Tuesday night, thanks to information provided by the community.
On the evening of January 3, F.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division Detectives, aided by tips from Crimestoppers and phone calls, successfully identified and located the suspect responsible.
The suspect, Awes Singko Rapet, an Asian male born on January 9, 2002, was positively identified as the individual involved in the incident at the Kwikcheck convenience store located at 1001 S. SH 16. F.P.D.
Detectives, collaborating with the Texas Rangers, obtained an arrest warrant and a search warrant for the suspect's location, believed to be a local motel.
At approximately 11:46 p.m. on the same day, F.P.D. Officers executed the arrest and search warrants, apprehending Rapet without incident.
The arrest operation also led to the recovery of evidence connected to the commission of the crime.
Rapet is now facing charges of Capital Murder and is currently being held at the Gillespie County Jail.
“The Fredericksburg Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance in identifying Rapet and determining his whereabouts,” the department stated. “His quick apprehension would not have been possible without all the phone calls, emails, and Crimestoppers Tips received by law enforcement from our community. “We would also like to thank the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in executing the arrest warrant and search warrant.”
