ODESSA, TX – A Pecos man was arrested Saturday night for intentionally driving through the Odessa H-E-B, similar to an event in San Angelo at the Walmart Super Center that made national headlines in 2018.
According to multiple reports, on July 8, 2023 at around 11 p.m., Odessa Police Officers were dispatched to the 3801 E 42nd St. for the report of major crash. When they arrived, the officers discovered a Toyota SUV that had driven into the grocery store.
It is alleged that Gonzolo Armendariz, 43, intentionally drove into the front doors of the store. Once he crashed into the closed store, Amendariz fought two employees, shouted at them for the store being closed, pulled the fire alarm, and attempted to flee. Luckily officers were able to catch Amerndariz before he left the scene.
Armendariz was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful carrying of a weapon, false alarm, assault on a security officer, criminal mischief, and assault that causing bodily injury. Armendariz was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
