SAN ANGELO – San Angelo Police Wednesday night released more detailed information on that chase and drug arrest Tuesday.
According to the SAPD, on 2/14/23 around 11:53am, SAPD’s patrol division attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a maroon in color GMC SUV near the intersection of Sherwood Way and Arden Rd. The Driver of the vehicle disregarded the Officers' emergency lights/sirens and led officers on a short vehicle pursuit.
The vehicle eventually stopped near the intersection of Ave N and S. Johnson where the three occupants of the vehicle proceeded to flee on foot. Two of the three occupants were quickly apprehended but one of the occupants was not located at that time.
SAPD’s Street Crimes division assisted with the investigation and were able to locate the listed items inside of the suspect vehicle:
• Approximately 1.5 pounds of Methamphetamine
• Approximately 42 grams of Heroin
• Approximately $2,800.00
One occupant of the vehicle, 32-year-old Ivan Alvarado, was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled substance PG1 <1gram and his outstanding warrants. This arrest was made at the conclusion of the initial investigation.
There was no damage to city or department property during the course of this pursuit and the ASU Police Department was notified as the incident was in close proximity to the school.
Additional charges may be forthcoming as this investigation continues.
