UPDATE: Police Confirm Suspect Still At-Large Following Man Hunt

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A high-speed chase through San Angelo on Tuesday led to the arrest of two suspects. However, there is still one suspect at large. According to our reporters on scene at around 12 p.m., officers with the San Angelo Police Department called a police chase on Sherwood Way near Garfield St. 

 

The chase went through town and ended up at the intersection of West Avenue N and Johnson Street. After the officers stopped the vehicle, three individuals fled from the car. One suspect was captured at the intersection of Johnson and Avenue K. The second suspect was arrested after fleeing into the student accounts building on the Angelo State University Campus. The Police searched one of the captured suspects, and it appears that narcotics were found.

*Note* Angelo State University has confirmed with San Angelo LIVE! that police apprehended the suspect on campus prior to them entering the building. Also no buildings were cleared during the incident.

Police have yet to capture the third suspect, who is believed to be a large Hispanic male wearing all black. Along with the San Angelo Police Department, the Angelo State police department assists in the search. If anyone has any information regarding the suspect at large, they are urged to contact the San Angelo Police Department immediately.

The following is a release from the San Angelo Police Department:

On 2/14/23 around 11:53am, Our patrol division attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a maroon in color GMC SUV near the intersection of Sherwood Way and Arden Rd. The Driver of the vehicle disregarded the Officers' lights/sirens and began to actively evade from the stop. The vehicle eventually stopped near the intersection of Ave N and S. Campus where the three occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Two of the Three occupants were quickly apprehended but one of the occupants is still at large. This incident is still currently being investigated at this time and it's unknown what/if any charges will be filed. There was no damage to city or department property during the course of this incident. ASU Police were notified as this incident occurred in close proximity to the school. 

UPDATE 4:40 P.M.

A suspect booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility named Ivan Alvarado is believed to be related to the incident. He is charged with possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Going Off Bond for a possession of marijuana charge, and Going Off Bond for a possession of a controlled substance charge.
