San Angelo Woman Indicted for Shooting a Man in the Leg

SAN ANGELO- A San Angelo woman has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting another individual in the leg.

According to court documents, on August 13, 2022, a San Angelo police officer was dispatched to Shannon Medical Center, located in San Angelo at 120 East Harris Boulevard, regarding a shooting victim. Once officers arrived, they observed a gunshot wound to the upper right calf on the victim. Officers were then sent to the residence where the shooting took place to hold the scene.

An investigator was sent to Shannon but could not speak with the victim as he was not conscious and about to undergo surgery. The investigator was then sent to the 4100 block of Nottingham Trail and spoke with a witness. This witness said she was in the room with the defendant, identified as Angel Valdez, and the victim. There, the witness claims that Valdez pulled a handgun from her waistband and took out the magazine. Then, Valdez allegedly pointed the gun at the victim and shot him in the leg.

Another witness stated that they observed Valdez remove the gun from her waistband and shoot the victim in the leg. This witness also said they aided the victim and drove him to Shannon Medical Center.

At a later time, the investigator spoke with the victim, who stated Valdez was at his house when he observed her pull out a handgun and remove the magazine. The victim claimed Valdez was pointing the gun around the room and shot him in the leg.

Valdez was arrested on August 18, 2022, and is currently and inmate in the Tom Green County Detention Facility and has a $50,000 bond.
