San Angelo Man Sentenced for a Vicious Attack that Left His Roommate with a Broken Jaw

SAN ANGELO- A San Angelo man has agreed to a plea deal after punching his roommate in the jaw and threatening to kill him back in 2021.

According to court documents, on October 7, 2021, a San Angelo police officer was dispatched to the Food King, located at 2 South Main Street regarding an assault. Once there, the officer met with the suspect who said he had arrived home from work and put food on the table.

The defendant, identified as Marcus Don Brown, approached the victim, and asked about his phone charger. Brown then suddenly punched the victim in the jaw causing the victim to fall to the floor.

Brown stood over the victim, displayed a knife, and took about $80 from the victim’s pocket. Then, Brown told the victim to leave and not come back or he would kill the victim. The victim left the residence in fear that Brown would make good on his threat.

An investigator responded and learned that the female resident allowed both Brown and the victim to stay at her apartment and both Brown and the victim have a child in common with her. The investigator attempted twice to make contact with Brown and both times Brown refused to open the door.

Facial injuries were observed on the victim, and it was documented at the hospital. The victim had a fracture to the lower jawbone and wished to press charges.

Brown was arrested on October 19, 2021 and was later indicted on aggravated robbery and aggravated assault charges.

According to the plea, Brown was sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and for the guilty plea, the aggravated robbery charge was dismissed.
