Kidnapped Oklahoma Toddler Rescued in Winters Early Thursday

 

WINTERS, TX – A fugitive from Oklahoma who had kidnapped his own child was caught in Winters early Thursday morning.

According to the Winters Police Department, on Oct. 27, at around 1:00 a.m., Sgt. L Stone and Officer C. Bradshaw with the WPD conducted a traffic stop on State Highway 153 for speeding.

The vehicle was occupied by an adult male and a 4-year-old girl. During the stop, it was discovered the driver had a warrant for kidnapping the child from her home in Oklahoma. The driver was immediately arrested and officers took custody of the child.

During the investigation, We learned the driver was the biological father of the child but had taken the girl in July against an emergency order granted in Oklahoma.

The child was in good health. She will remain in WPD's protective custody until her legal guardian arrives.
