WATCH: Student Brutally Assaults Teacher at Ector County ISD Middle School

ODESSA, TX – A teacher at an Ector County ISD middle school was attacked by a student earlier this week. Students in the classroom captured the fight on tape and spread it across social media.

The following video is the attack. This video contains graphic content. Viewer's discretion is advised.

In the video it appears the student was upset that the teacher had confiscated his cell phone. He can be heard cussing at the teacher at her desk prior to the assault.

The student, who has not been named, has been charged with aggravated assault against a public servant. Ector County ISD released the following statement on the issue.

“This is shocking and terrible, and will not be tolerated. We have been dealing with fights and violence recently, and want our community to know that behavior is unacceptable and we will do all we can to prevent it. The student was arrested and charged with a first-degree felony and will also face disciplinary action through the student code of conduct. We have watched violence among children on the rise here, around the state and across the country; we know our children are hurting and need us to address mental health challenges, while we also hold them accountable for their actions. Our district will continue to address these concerns with students and families."

(we know our children are hurting and need us to address mental health challenges)

I have to call BS on that statement. I know there are some kids that may need help but, that is not a blanket cause of this type of behavior. This type of behavior continues to grow because it is tolerated and excuses are made for it both at home and publicly, ie the above statement. I had a pretty rough childhood. I grew up angry. By the time I was in high school I was well over 6ft and 200 lbs. I never not even one time thought about attacking a teacher when I didn't get my way because not only was it wrong but sure as hell wasn't tolerated. This punk boy will get probation and be back in class in a week.
