Austin Woman Arrested After Hitting Two Police Officers With Vehicle

 

AUSTIN – An Austin woman was arrested for hitting two police officers with her car Saturday night in Austin.

Just before 3:00 a.m. on April 16, 2022, at East Seventh St. and Red River St. two officers on motorcycles were sitting in the right lane of East Seventh St. when a driver, who did not stop or yield, crashed into the officers.

One officer flew into the windshield of the car and the other officer was pulled off her bike between the suspect car and a car parked on the street. Both officers were taken to the hospital and on Monday, Austin police said both officers were recovering.

Austin Police Department identified the driver of the car as 23-year-old Alix Tijerina. Tijerina admitted to having mixed drinks at multiple bars.

Alix Tijerina was arrested and charged with intoxication assault, a 3rd degree felony. Tijerina has since been bonded out of Travis County Jail.
