LUBBOCK, TX- A Lubbock man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Xavier Rey Carrizales, 24, will receive credit for 257 days served and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
According to documents, on January 13, 2016, an 8-year-old elementary school student told a teacher that she had been “raped” at her home. The victim believed rape was someone touching you where someone was not supposed to.
The victim also reported it to her family and said the assault happened just before Christmas Day.
A toddler and a mother of 2 were also listed as possible assault victims of Xavier Carrizales.
Regarding the 8-year-old, Carrizales was indicted on aggravated sexual assault of a child, but this was dismissed after he pled guilty to different charge.
In relation to this case, Carrizales was indicted on continuous sexual abuse of a child and there are three other children listed in the indictment. The 8-year-old, the toddler, and the mother were not in this indictment.
In Summer 2021, the state filed a motion for intent to file new evidence and a trial date was set, but Carrizales was indicted on continuous sexual assault of a child instead.
In all, Carrizales ended up being charged with crimes against 4 different children including the 8-year-old.
Xavier Rey Carrizales currently is in custody in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
