Grape Creek Woman Sentenced for Violent Attack After Throwing Sledge Hammer Through a Windshield

SAN ANGELO, TX – A 24-year-old Grape Creek woman was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday after she attempted to kill her husband with a shotgun, a saw blade, and sledge hammer.

According to court documents, on Oct. 13 at 8:10 a.m., Kourtney Jackson aka Kourtney Woods, 24, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as part of plea bargain.

Jackson was originally arrested on Oct. 19, 2019 after deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 15900 block of Walnut Grove Rd. in Grape Creek for the report of a domestic disturbance.

When the deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a man that had barricaded himself in his truck to get away from Jackson. The scene was then secured and deputies spoke with both parties.

The first conversation was with Jackson. She admitted to deputies that she busted out the windshield of her husband's vehicle using a sledge hammer.

The husband was then interviewed. He told the officers that not only was a sledge hammer thrown through his windshield but she stabbed him with a saw blade. She also pointed a shotgun at the man and threatened to kill him.

She was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System and then three years on probation.
