Middle Schooler Charged After Claiming He Had A Gun

ODESSA – A Permian Basin middle schooler is facing misdemeanor charges after claiming to have a gun at school.

According to Ector County ISD,  school officials became aware of the allegation after a student came forward saying another student stated he had a gun.

The allegation prompted District police to search the student and his locker – no weapon was located.

The student, who attends Wilson & Young Medal of Honor Middle School, was subsequently charged with a Class A Misdemeanor of  Threat of a Gun on a School Campus.

“Ector County ISD leaders want to take this opportunity to remind parents to talk with their kids about this kind of behavior. Claims of weapons on campus will be taken seriously and charges will be filed against those making the claim."
