Mexican Drug Runners Dump Loads of Reefer Leaving Labor Day Tokers Bluntless

EDINBURG, TX – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector (RGV) agents seize more than $435K worth of marijuana in two separate incidents this week.

Thursday morning, RGV agents working near Garceno observed several subjects loading large bundles into a sedan near the Rio Grande. Upon detection, the suspected drug smugglers abandoned the vehicle and quickly fled back to Mexico.

Agents seized five bundles of marijuana left inside the vehicle. The weight of the marijuana was approximately 461 pounds, valued at over $369K.  The seized marijuana was transported to a Border Patrol station for processing.

Thursday night, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station agents working near Escobares discovered and followed shoe prints, which led away from the Rio Grande.  The prints led agents to seven abandoned bundles of marijuana.

Agents searched the area, but did not locate any subjects or additional bundles. The seized bundles of marijuana weighed more than 82 pounds and are valued at more than $66K.

The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.
