Jail Inmate Indicted for Beating Detention Officer

SAN ANGELO,TX – A San Angelo man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in July for his role in a riot inside the Tom Green County Detention Facility.

On April 22, 2021, a disturbance between officers and inmates at the Tom Green County Detention Facility occurred in housing block M-8. Officers entered the housing block and encountered inmates wearing face coverings prepared for a fight.

One of the inmates charged the officers and a struggle ensued. While officers were trying to restrain the charging inmate, another inmate struck one of the officers in the head with a closed fist.

Investigators spoke with the officer at Shannon Hospital who was being treated for swelling to his right temporal area and a possible concussion. The investigation uncovered that the officer who was punched did go unconscious after being struck in the head. The officer had no recollection of the disturbance after being struck until a few minutes later after being removed from the housing block.

The investigators viewed video surveillance of the assault and Sean Wisdom was identified as the inmate who struck the detention officer in the head.

Wisdom was booked into jail on March 17, 2021, for aggravated robbery and evading arrest when he stole a black Cadillac Escalade outside the Corner Stop located at 1302 North Chadbourne Street.

Wisdom is currently being held in TGCDF on $100,000.00 bond for assaulting a public servant, evading arrest and aggravated robbery.
