Fugitive U.S. Citizen Arrested for Smuggling Illegal Aliens

 

MARFA, TX – An early morning chase ended with Presidio County law enforcement catching illegal aliens Thursday.

According to the Presidio County Sheriff's Office, around 5:30 a.m., a 2014 Chevy Malibu did not yield after turning around at a checkpoint just south of Marfa.

Presidio police and state troopers responded to the chase and Presidio County deputies deployed spike strips which flattened one tire. The vehicle kept going until it was forced off the road.

The driver of the vehicle ran from the scene but was caught. Inside the vehicle, 7 illegal aliens were discovered by deputies and were taken to Border Patrol.

The driver is a U.S. citizen and is looking at federal human smuggling charges and Presidio County is adding charges for evading arrest.
