Couple Accused of Defrauding Midland County for $1 Million

 

MIDLAND, TX – A Midland couple is facing serious fraud charges after they defrauded Midland County for more than $1 million.

A report from the Midland County Auditor’s Office showed the investigation began in September 2020. According to the Midland County Sheriff's Office, John and Cynthia Warren submitted fraudulent invoices.

Warren submitted said invoices on behalf of Vector Fleet Management to the county for  $1,003,776.66.

Vector Fleet Management would eventually admit to investigators the company charged $1,319,588.88 to false companies on a company credit card.

The investigation further revealed Justin Warren helped John Warren commit the theft -- with the three of them allegedly participating in the profits. The crime has been qualified as engaging in organized crime.

John and Cynthia Warren were arrested on Monday in Lowndes County, Georgia. 

John was charged with Theft of more than $300,000 and Engaging in Criminal Activity -- both are first-degree felonies. Cynthia was charged with Engaging in Criminal Activity.

As of this week, approximately 50 vehicles and equipment were seized in Lowndes County and 24 vehicles and equipment were seized in Odessa.

No information has been released regarding what charges Justin Warren may face at this time.
