Woman Jumps Out of Stolen Car in Attempt to Evade Police

SAN ANGELO, TX – A 19-year-old car thief gave it her best shot at out running cops on Wednesday night but came up short after jumping out of a stolen car.

According to the arrest blotter published by the San Angelo Police Department, on May 12, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of N. Van Buren for the report of a unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in progress.

Moments later officers found the stolen car near 19th St. and N. Bryant Blvd. A chase ensued and during which the driver, 19-year-old Brianna Bermea-Delapaz, jumped out of the moving vehicle near Abe and W. Twohig.

After bailing the car continued forward and struck a parked car. Bermea-Delapaz also kept going as she tried to out run officers. She was later caught and taken into custody following a short chase.

Bermea-Delapaz had a warrant for failure to appear to a court date. She was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, evading arrest with a vehicle, no drivers license, failure to stop and leave information after striking an unattended vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

She remains in the jail as of Thursday afternoon in lieu of a $34,634 bond.
