Bond Reduction Denied for Couple Accused of Killing 8-Year-Old

ODESSA, TX – A judge has denied motions to reduce the bonds of Ashley and Daniel Schwarz on Tuesday.

Both individuals were charged with murder after they killed 8-year-old Jaylin.

Back in August, officers with the Odessa Police Department were dispatched to the 4300 block of Locust Ave for reports of a medical issue.

When officers arrived they found the child was dead.

The subsequent investigation revealed the two suspects caused Jaylin's death by inflicting multiple punishments.

These included not allowing her to eat breakfast, forcing her to jump on the trampoline without stopping, and not permitting her to drink water. The surface temperature of the trampoline was 110 degrees when Jaylin was forced to jump non-stop.

The autopsy revealed Jaylin's died as a result of dehydration and her death was ruled a homicide.

Ashley and Daniel were not Jaylin's parents but rather acted as her guardians.

The Schwarz's will continue to be held on $600,000 bonds for each one.

Ashely Schwarz's lawyer argued her client was not a flight risk.
