SAPD: Suspect Stole Vehicle and Injured Owner Before Crashing

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Police Department confirmed a carjacking that occurred earlier Wednesday morning.

According to the SAPD, on Mar. 16, a San Angelo man stole an unattended vehicle that was left running in a parking lot.

During the theft, the unidentified suspect caused minor injuries to the victim who attempted to stop the theft and committed a hit and run crash before he was taken into custody.

The San Angelo Police Department wants to remind our citizens that vehicles left running outside homes, in front of convenience stores, restaurants, and at gas pumps present an easy target for car thieves. It only takes seconds for a thief to steal a vehicle left running while unattended and or unoccupied.

Always take your keys with you and secure your vehicle, even for a short trip into the store.
