Convicted Felon Indicted for Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – David Alexander Rodriguez was indicted on June 18 by a Tom Green County grand jury on multiple charges including two counts of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon, one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. 

On the morning of April 16, officers with the San Angelo Police Department responded to a residence off of Robinhood Trail following the report of an aggravated assault that occurred at a separate residence off of Forest Hill Dr. 

When officers arrived on scene they met with a female victim who advised she and her ex-boyfriend, the Defendant identified as David Rodriguez, were previously engaged in a verbal argument outside of a residence on Forest Hill Dr after the defendant was asked to leave the property.

As the defendant was leaving the residence he grabbed the couple's one year old son and got into the girlfriend's vehicle.

The victim stated that as she and a witness were attempting to stop the defendant from leaving with the child, the defendant pulled out a black handgun and pointed the firearm at the two before fleeing the scene. 

Shortly after, the defendant was located by authorities at a residence on Robinhood Trail.

During a search of the defendant, officers recovered a black handgun from a backpack which belonged to the defendant, that matched a description of the firearm exhibited during the initial altercation.

The same day Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 6:51 a.m. on multiple charges including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. 

Following his arrest David Alexander Rodriguez was held on various charges carrying approximately $270,000.00 in bond.
