Tip Leads to Arrest of Texas Top 10 Most Wanted

AUSTIN, TX — A Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive wanted on sexual assault of a child and stalking charges was arrested during a traffic stop in Travis County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Fermin Alejandro Calles Garcia, 24, of Venezuela, was taken into custody Sept. 5 during a traffic stop in northwest Travis County.

According to DPS, Cedar Park Police Department officers conducted the traffic stop after following up on tip information and found Calles Garcia inside the vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident.

Special agents with the DPS Criminal Investigations Division in Austin assisted in the investigation.

Calles Garcia had been wanted in Travis County since March 2025 on charges of sexual assault of a child and stalking. DPS said he was also wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for assault causing bodily injury.

According to DPS, Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of fugitives on the state's 10 Most Wanted lists. The program is funded by the Governor's Public Safety Office.

DPS and other law enforcement agencies have arrested 56 people from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders and Criminal Illegal Immigrants lists so far in 2026, including 39 sex offenders and nine gang members. DPS said $79,000 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.

To be eligible for a Crime Stoppers reward, tips must be submitted through one of the approved methods. Tipsters can call 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submit information through the Texas 10 Most Wanted website or use the Texas 10 Most Wanted Facebook tip option.

DPS said all tips are anonymous, and tipsters receive a tip number instead of providing their name.
