SAN ANGELO, TX – Officers with the San Angelo Police Department arrested a 31-year-old man Monday after he stole a car and then crashed it.
According to the SAPD, on June 22, officers with the SAPD were dispatched to the Stripes on 19th and Bryant for the report of a vehicle crash.
When officers arrived they discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a fire hydrant. Further investigation revealed that Rodolfo Rodriguez, 31, was at the stripes and attempted to steal the vehicle. During the encounter the vehicle's owner was hanging from the vehicle's door attempting to stop the thief.
This is when Rodriguez crashed into the fire hydrant. The vehicle’s owner was injured.
After crashing multiple witnesses on scene detained Rodriguez until police arrived.
Rodriguez was charged with Robbery and had a warrant from unauthorized absence from a community correctional facility. His bond for the unauthorized absence from a community correctional facility is set at $7,500. His bond for the Robbery has not been set at this time.
