SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man currently serving probation for the 2013 sexual assault of a 9-year-old, has returned to Tom Green County Jail on another child sex charge, according to arrest records.
Beginning In 2013, SAPD arrested a 69-year-old man after a child made an outcry of sexual abuse. Roughly 7 years later, another victim came forward after making an outcry of sexual abuse to a family member in April of 2020.
On April 28, 2020, the child, who's now 17 years old, told officers the man would make them perform sexual acts on him somewhere between 2-3 times a week from March 15, 2009 to Oct. 1, of 2013. The child was 5-7 years old during the timeframe the initial assaults took place, according to the affidavit.
On March 1, 2020, the defendant openly admitted to police he would allow the child to sit on his lap to "arouse him." He later told officers he "enjoyed the contact" and even admitted to not attempting to stop the child. Reports indicate this would happen at least once a month, the man told police.
The victim was also interviewed during the 2013 investigation, but never made an outcry at the time. Following their 2013 investigation police arrested Leo Lee Gonzales, 76, Wednesday afternoon with the charge of "Suspicion of Continuous Sexual abuse of a Child".
As part of his guilty plea, Gonzales was given a sentence of 10 years deferred adjudication and ordered to register as a sex offender. Gonzales was initially registered on the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry as a "low risk" offender until further allegations came forward.
Gonzales currently remains in the Tom Green County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 bond as of 11 a.m Thursday morning.

How can judges let this monster have probation. How many little girls lives did he ruin. Throw away the key! Make sure everyone in prison knows why he is there.
