SAN ANGELO, TX – According to police report documents on April 16, 2020 an officer with the San Angelo Police Department received a Child Protective Services intake for the alleged sexual abuse of a child. On Monday 30-year-old, Alejandro Valdez-Mendoza was arrested by SAPD officers for the sexual assault of a minor dating back to two assaults that took place in October of 2019.
During a forensic interview with the victim on April 16, 2020, an interviewing officer confirmed the age of the victim to be 15 years of age at the time the first assault took place where victim indicated the suspect penetrated her sexual organ sometime between August and October of 2019 at a private residence inside the city limits of San Angelo.
A follow up interview was conducted with the victim on April 24, 2020 where the investigating officer learned of an additional incident where the suspect penetrated the victims sexual organ sometime between the timeframe of September to October of 2019.
Officers with SAPD issued an arrest warrant for Valdez-Mendoza on Friday May 01. Valdez-Mendoza was later arrested at a local residence without incident on Monday afternoon.
Alejandro Valdez-Mendoza currently faces two counts of SEXUAL ASSAULT-CHILD which is a Second Degree Felony in the state of Texas that carries a penalty of 2-20 years imprisonment with a maximum fine of $10,000.
