Sheriff's Office Employee Arrested for DWI

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A Bexar County Sheriff's detention corporal is facing serious consequences after she was arrested Monday for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

According to My San Antonio, 50-year-old Susan Palomo was arrested by San Antonio Police Department at 11:00 p.m. The Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar released a statement regarding the incident.

"In the midst of this community and agency fighting the COVID-19 crisis with everything in our power, this is beyond disrespectful," said Sheriff Salazar.

Palomo has been with the sheriff’s office for nearly two decades and was placed on administrative leave.

"This 16-year employee is certainly experienced enough to know better. My intention is to terminate her employment as soon as possible if ultimately convicted for this crime,” said Salazar.

Palomo will lose her Texas Peace Officer’s License per Bexar County Civil Service rules. A criminal investigation being conducted by the San Antonio Police Department and the sheriff's office Internal Affairs will conduct a separate investigation.

Palomo was released on an $800 bond.
