Texas Rangers Investigating Suspicious Death of Released Inmate

MIDLAND, TX – The Texas Rangers have started another investigation on the Midland County Sheriff's Office. This one though is due to a death.

According to the MRT, on Feb. 29, the Texas Rangers opened a second investigation on the Midland County Sheriff's Office. This investigation was after they were accused of being responsible for the death of a 36-year-old man.

The accusation come after Judge David Cobos was called to the Midland Memorial Hospital to certify the death of Christopher Duboise.

After pronouncing Duboise dead he went and spoke to jail staff and learned that the 36-year-old attempted to hang himself while in jail two days prior.

In the mean time Duboise was released from the Midland County Jail on a $300 surety bond. Cobos said he was baffled when he found out that Duboise was released instead of being taken to the hospital.

Cobos claims the Sheriff’s Office released Duboise on bond so it wouldn't have to classify it as an in-custody death.

An autopsy revealed drugs in his system including methamphetamine, fentanyl, and marijuana.

This is the second investigation the MCSO is under right now. Here is the first one: Midland County Sheriff's Office Under Investigation by the Texas Rangers
