4 Charged for New Year's Eve Murder and They're All Teenagers

 

ABILENE, TX — Four suspects were arrested Friday accused for murdering 20-year-old David Devora on New Year’s Eve. The murder in the northeast neighborhood of Abilene marked the fifth homicide of 2019 there.

According to KTXS, the four will be tried as adults and were charged with aggravated robbery and murder.

According to earlier reports, Devora and two friends were in a house in the 2500 block of Roundtree watching a football game at around 8:20 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Someone knocked on the door and Devora got up to answer. But before he opened the door, a gunshot rang out and Devora was shot at least once above the chest area through the front door. He died at the scene.

Devora was visiting the residence on Roundtree that night. The 2018 graduate of Abilene High School was visiting in Abilene for the holidays. He was attending Austin Community College in Austin.

KTXS reported that the alleged shooter at the door was Creshawn Dupro Howard, 18. The getaway driver was Rodaeshia Winter Hines, 17. Police told KTXS that a fifth “person of interest” is in custody but not charged.

Those arrested or wanted in connection with the murder are Creshawn Dupro Howard, 18; Rodaeshia Winter Hines, 17; Tyree Tyshawn Neal, 17; and Michael Aaron Wright-Collazo, 18.

Hines, the suspected getaway driver, was booked into the Taylor County Jail and has his bond set at $250,000. The other three have warrants for their arrest but have not been booked.

KTXS reported that three of the suspects have previous arrests on their record for offenses like assault of a public servant, marijuana possession, evading arrest, and firearms violations.

Meanwhile, the funeral arrangements for Devora are set. The viewing is Sunday from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the Elmwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Abilene.
