Maximum Sentence Levied for Convicted Child Sex Offender

 

Update, 12:20 p.m.: The jury in the sexual assault of a child trial for Jimmy Navarro levied the maximum sentence on both counts.

Navarro, who was convicted on Wednesday by the same jury, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for both counts of sexual assault of a child.

The jury deliberated for a little more than an hour before handing in the sentence.

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The closing arguments of the punishment phase in the sexual assault of a child trial of Jimmy Navarro concluded mid-morning on Thursday.

Now the jury will deliberate the punishment for Navarro.

Navarro faces two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He is also eligible for probation.

Navarro was found guilty on both counts of sexual assault of a child on Wednesday by the same jury who is deliberating the punishment.

The jury is expected to reach a decision on Navarro's punishment today.
