...But She Claimed She was Just Driving "Mike's" Truck

SAN ANGELO, TX—The Tom Green County Sheriff's Department arrested a woman for stealing a truck on Sunday during a traffic stop at the 600 block of W. 23rd Street.

Irosha Suiters failed to use her turn signal soon enough before turning and the deputy reported she was texting on her smartphone, according to the arrest affidavit.

When running the plates on the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup during the traffic stop, the deputy was informed the truck was previously stolen. Suiters denied that she had stolen the truck but instead said she borrowed the truck from a friend named "Mike."

While considering who Mike was, the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming out of the car. She was already going to get booked into jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by then.

During the probable cause search inspired by the strong odor of pot, the deputy discovered a .380 caliber semi-auto pistol hidden underneath the console.

In addition to the gun, and then finding a green, leafy substance in a cup holder that the deputy identified as marijuana, he also discovered a drug pipe in the glove box.

Suiters was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, driving while license is invalid, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The deputy does not know who "Mike" was, and Suiters had no information on where he may be found.

If your name is "Mike", the stolen truck you may have loaned to Irosha is in the impound. The Sheriff may have questions for you should you decide to go fetch it.
