SAN ANGELO, TX – This weekend, some San Angeloans were a little too jolly in their endeavors, and went to the Tom Green County Jail as a result. Local law enforcement arrested and booked 43 people, and that included six arrestees charged with theft/shoplifting and alcohol-related offenses on Saturday.
On that day, 30-year-old Meagan Michelle Doyle was arrested for Theft of Property >=$100<$750 and booked into the TGCJ at around 2:14 p.m.
San Angelo Police Officer Tracy Gonzalez said police were dispatched to the Walmart on Sherwood Way for the report of a shoplifter in custody.
“Doyle attempted to steal over $100 in merchandise,” said Officer Gonzalez.
Doyle has a history of theft, and this is her fourth arrest in TGC.
To add insult to injury, also on Saturday, Sean Thomas Smith, 25, went to the TGCJ after getting arrested for Theft Class C, Fail to Identify Fugitive Intent Give False Info. and Criminal Trespass. He was booked at around 9:56 p.m.
Officer Gonzalez said police were dispatched to Walmart again on Sherwood Way for the report of a theft in progress.
“Smith attempted to steal several items, lied about his identity and violated an active criminal trespass warning,” Gonzalez added.
This is Smith’s first arrest in TGC.
Also on Saturday, Officer Gonzalez said police arrested Shay Dehaven Ashby, 35, for public intoxication at around 9:49 p.m., after police were dispatched to the Western Sky Steakhouse, 2024 N. Chadbourne, for the report of a suspicious subject. Ashby was also charged with harassing a public servant after an incident with a peace officer during the booking process.
This is Ashby’s second arrest in Tom Green County.
In another alcohol-related incident on Saturday, SAPD officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Shiloh Street for a welfare check on a man who was standing in the roadway, waving his arms. The man was identified as habitual arrestee 64-year-old James Royce Jordan.
“Upon arrival, officers located Jordan lying on the side of the road,” Officer Gonzalez said.
He was arrested for Public Intoxication and booked into the TGCJ at around 7:04 p.m. This is Jordan’s 67th arrest in TGC.
In another incident, 22-year-old Joe Angel Rosales was arrested for DWI and driving with an invalid license with a previous conviction/suspension. He was booked into the TGCJ at approximately 1:56 a.m. following a crash investigation in the 2100 block of Pecos Street.
Officer Gonzalez said Rosales was driving eastbound on Sherwood Way when his gray 2013 KIA Spectra collided with a signal light and a parking lot barrier. The collision caused his vehicle to overturn and come to rest in a parking lot.
“Rosales was treated and released by Medics at the scene before being transported to jail,” Gonzalez stated.
According to jail records, this is Rosales’ first arrest in TGC.
Finally, at 3:22 a.m. on Dec. 10, Amanda Paige Thomas, 29, was arrested for DWI and booked into the jail after police dispatched to the area of Loop 306 and Knickerbocker Rd. for the report of a reckless driver. Apparently, Thomas was driving on the wrong side of the road in a white Ford F-150.
This is Thomas’ first arrest in TGC.
In addition to these arrests, and out of the 43, 18 people went to jail on outstanding warrants; six people had both new complaints and outstanding warrants; and 19 people went to jail for new crimes only.
