Local Law Enforcement Initiate Sexual Assault, Evading and Resisting Police Arrests

SAN ANGELO, TX – Since our last update, local law enforcement arrested 18 people on various offenses, including sexual assault, evading arrest and resisting arrest.

Yesterday, at 8:37 a.m., Alex Jonathan Cabello, 18, was arrested by the ASU Police Department on a Sexual Assault warrant. According to an official at ASU PD, there was a report filed by a victim between the age of 20 – 30, and so police initiated a warrant.

Cabello’s bond is set at $30,000.

The ASU Police said the case is still under investigation and no other information can be released at this time.

At around 8:00 a.m. yesterday, San Angelo Police officers were dispatched to an unwanted person at the Grande Motel located at 1117 N. Chadbourne.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, said officers arrived and spoke with the complainant who said a man had destroyed his garden and started a fire next to his garden.

“As officers were speaking to the complainant, the man in question walked up to them,” said Gonzalez. “Officers noticed the man’s elbow was bleeding and they inquired about how he became injured. The man replied, ‘Gardening is hard.’”

The man, identified as 39-year-old Kurt Dieter Stroh, complained of being in pain and medics responded to the scene. Stroh was transported to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance.

“While in the hospital’s lobby, Stroh became agitated and argumentative with an officer," explained Gonzalez. “Due to Stroh’s behavior, and out of concern for other patient’s safety, the officer attempted to take Stroh to another area but Stroh refused.”

Gonzalez stated that when the officer attempted to place Stroh in handcuffs, the man pulled away and a brief struggle ensued.  A San Angelo Firefighter who was nearby assisted the officer and Stroh was placed in handcuffs.

“After Stroh was cleared from medical care, he was transported to the Tom Green County Jail,” said Gonzalez.

He was charged with Evading Arrest Detention, but the complainant refused to pursue charges regarding the criminal mischief and arson.

This is Stroh’s 6th arrest in Tom Green County.

Additionally, at around 9:00 p.m., San Angelo Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white 1998 Honda Civic near the 2900 block of N. Chadbourne.

Officer Gonzalez said the vehicle did not stop until it reached a residence in the 300 block of E. 30th

“Once it stopped, a male driver exited and he refused the officer’s multiple commands,” said Gonzalez. “The officer attempted to place the man in custody, but the man resisted and ran.”

The officer eventually caught the man, identified as 29-year-old Alberto Rios Galvan, but he continued to resist and a brief struggle ensued.

“The officer received minor injuries when he was taking Galvan into custody,” said Gonzalez. “Galvan also received minor injuries when he resisted arrest, but he refused medical treatment.

Galvan was arrested for Resisting Arrest Search or Transport and Evading Arrest. This is his 11th arrest in Tom Green County.
