Arrest: Abilene Man Steals a Ford and Causes Collision

 

Today, Abilene Police arrested Mario Valerio, 30, of Abilene after he stole a Ford Excursion, caused a collision and led police on a chase.

At 8:50 a.m. today, Abilene Dispatch received a call of a hit and run at the intersection of Clack and Buffalo Gap Road. The driver of a white Ford Excursion was traveling southbound on BGR and stopped at the intersection at Clack. Another driver was traveling northbound on BGR when the Ford turned into the path of the vehicle, causing a collision.

The driver, later identified as Valerio, did not stop and fled the scene. A description was gained and the vehicle and driver were stopped a short time later in Clyde by DPS and Clyde Police Department.
 
APD learned that the white Ford Excursion was stolen from the parking lot of an Abilene business located in the 2000 block of Industrial Blvd. by Valerio. The suspect had taken his mother's Ford F-150 earlier in the day and traveled to the business. He then stole the Ford from the parking lot.
 
DPS took Valerio into custody. Charges are pending.

Valerio faces several charges.
