Bank Robbery in Abilene is Under Investigation

 

Police are working a bank robbery that occurred just after 7:30 a.m. today at First Bank Texas at South 1st and Meander streets in Abilene, Texas.  

They are looking for a black male, estimated to be 5-feet-6 and 150 pounds, who was wearing a blue jean jacket and carrying a duffle bag.

According to Sgt. Lynn Beard, the suspect approached a female bank employee as she was entering the bank, forced her inside and then forced other employees at gunpoint into a vault.

Beard said a substantial amount of money was taken during the robbery, but no one was injured.

The bank is located in the 1800 block of South 1st Street, and police are asking people to avoid the area.

Four police cars and the Abilene Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are currently on scene.
