Verbal Argument Leads to Stabbing on Avenue N

A man stabbed this afternoon was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The stabbing may be a result of a verbal argument, said Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police department.

Gonzalez said at 1:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of West Avenue N for the report of a stabbing. Officers arrived and located one man on the roof.

“He was complaining of being stabbed,” Gonzalez said. “He stated that the suspect was inside.”

Gonzalez said there were other parties on the property who confirmed there was a man inside. Officers learned there was possibly a knife used in the stabbing.

One of the parties at the property called by phone or gave a verbal (she’s not sure as of yet) to the person and convinced the suspect to come out. As he exited the home, officers kept their guns drawn on the suspect because of the report of a knife.

“The suspect was taken into custody without incident at 1:34 p.m.,” said Gonzalez. “The stabbing victim was transported to one of the local hospitals—I can’t confirm which one yet—for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”

Gonzalez said she doesn’t know how many times or the areas where the man was stabbed. She added that CID and CSI teams are investigating at the scene, and multiple officers are blocking traffic and preserving evidence.

“It’s going to take some time to sort through everything,” she noted. “We had a person on the rooftop, so we’re going to have to do a rooftop search as well as an interior search.”

Gonzalez added that SAPD will provide a press release either later today or tomorrow that will provide more information, including names. They will not release names until someone has been arrested and charged.
