San Angelo police discovered an injured man in his late 20s near the railroad tracks behind Angelo Place Apartments early Sunday morning, according to SAPD Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez.
She said police were dispatched to the apartments for an unknown problem, likely a loud party. After police broke the party up and things quieted down, officers were walking to their patrol cars.
As they were leaving, police were informed about a male voice crying out for help by witnesses. After a quick search of the area, police discovered a man lying on the ground near the railroad tracks. According to Gonzalez, police suspected the man was hit by a train.

He was suffering from severe injuries, but was conscious and speaking. Police called for an ambulance and the injured man was transported to Shannon Medical Center. As of Sunday afternoon, Gonzalez said the man’s current condition is unknown.
“The incident is still under investigation and we hope to release more details tomorrow,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said police confirmed with Texas Pacifico railroad officials that two trains went through the area around 11:30 p.m. Gonzales said she believes the man was 28 but the exact age is not confirmed.
Elizabeth Grindstaff, spokeswoman for Texas Pacifico, confirmed with the railroad’s Safety Manager that they are aware of the incident.
“It is being investigated by the San Angelo Police Department, and Texas Pacifico is cooperating fully,” Grindstaff said.
