Reporters on the scene say first responders blocked traffic while they investigated the crash between a silver Ford Ranger single cab with a camper shell and a what appears to be a green hard top two-door Jeep CJ5.
Two vehicles were badly damaged in a crash on the U.S. 87 N access road just past the N. Chadbourne St. overpass Monday afternoon on a rain slicked roadway.
When they arrived, residents told firefighters they thought someone was still inside so volunteers initiated a rescue operation. Rivera says that operation was difficult because of the heavy fire and smoke in the structure.
