2 Rescued After Car Swept Nearly Mile by Floodwaters in Lampasas County

LAMPASAS COUNTY, TX — Texas Game Wardens, local firefighters and first responders rescued two people early Sunday after floodwaters swept their vehicle nearly a mile downstream in Lampasas County.

According to Texas Game Wardens, a man and a woman were inside a car when fast-moving floodwaters forced it through a square culvert beneath railroad tracks. The vehicle was completely submerged during the incident.

Both occupants managed to escape the car. Game wardens found the man clinging to a tree approximately 15 feet above the water, while the woman was located 50 to 100 yards farther downstream, also holding onto a tree.

"We are grateful to have reached them in time-and thankful for a relatively happy ending amidst the sadness and devastation Texas has experienced lately," Texas Game Wardens stated.

Further details about the victims’ identities or medical conditions were not immediately available.
