7 Adopted Dogs Killed in Van Fire En Route From Texas

CYPRESS, TX — Seven dogs rescued and rehabilitated in Texas died after the transport van carrying them to their adoptive homes caught fire in Illinois, according to officials with Cypress Lucky Mutt Rescue.

The van was headed to New York with 11 dogs that had been fostered and prepared for adoption. The fire broke out while the vehicle was traveling through Illinois. Four dogs were rescued, including one named Guapo, who suffered burns and was hospitalized. Guapo is expected to recover fully.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but rescue officials described the blaze as “fast and intense.”

The three dogs that survived the fire have since been united with their new adoptive families.

The rescue is asking for help via donations, and you can find more information HERE.
