SAN ANGELO, TX – Sabrina Brooks, a local certified nurse’s aide, faces a lengthy recovery following a motorcycle crash on Jan. 11, 2025, on FM 2288 in San Angelo.
The crash left Brooks with severe injuries, including a broken shoulder, three fractures in her upper spine, micro lacerations on her liver, and a small brain injury.
Brooks, who was set to begin EMT school on January 13, has had her life drastically altered by the crash. She will require medical treatment, starting with a surgery scheduled for January 28 to repair her shattered shoulder. Her mother, Tina Rogers, has taken to fundraising to cover Brooks’ medical expenses, lost wages, and living costs. So far, $800 has been raised toward a $10,000 goal via GoFundMe.
The crash has compounded Brooks’ medical challenges. Initial X-rays revealed a torn rotator cuff and subsequent imaging showed that the ball of her shoulder had broken completely off. Surgery will involve inserting plates and screws, with the potential for a full shoulder replacement if complications arise.
Before the accident, Brooks was actively pursuing a career in emergency medical services, a goal now delayed by at least six months due to her shoulder injury.
"Everything came to a complete stop," information from the GoFundMe stated. "Any help is appreciated; prayers are also appreciated."
