PECOS, TX — A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $50,000 to support the families of Conductor Phillip Araujo and Engineer Clay Burt, who were killed in a train derailment in Pecos on Wednesday evening.
The accident also left three others injured, according to officials.
The derailment occurred around 5 p.m. near Oak Street and Dot Stafford Street when a freight train collided with a tractor-trailer, striking the Pecos Chamber of Commerce building.
The fundraiser aims to help the Araujo and Burt families with funeral expenses. Donations are being divided equally between the families to provide support during this difficult time.
